WHY WE GATHER
Each year, The Big Picnic brings people together to celebrate Marcus Garvey Birthday Weekend on the third weekend in August. This is more than a picnic. It is a gathering of people, pride, purpose, and community a time to honour Garvey’s legacy and celebrate culture, unity, and empowerment together.
We gather to remind ourselves that we are stronger together than apart. In a world that often pulls us in different directions, The Big Picnic creates a space where future generations can see what unity truly looks like. It is where the community reaffirms its commitment to building, uplifting, and moving forward together, with purpose and pride.
